The Washington Capitals are partying with the Stanley Cup like there’s no tomorrow, as if the weight of a franchise’s championship futility was lifted off each individual player’s shoulders. Can you blame them?

Ample photo and video evidence available on social media shows Alex Ovechkin and his teammates partying with the Cup all around the Washington area on Saturday.

Their day began with a trip to Nationals Park, where they watched from a suite as the Washington Nationals beat the San Francisco Giants 7-5 in an early-day game. Ovechkin threw out the first pitch (on two tries):

The Capitals also continued the grand tradition of drinking out of the Cup. Many fans encountered the team in Georgetown:

One of the most notable moments from Saturday is when this group of players swam in a fountain in Georgetown.

Somehow, Jakub Vrana found the time to get a tattoo on his wrist of the Cup and part of the Capitals’ logo:

Finally, Ovechkin brought the Cup home at the end of the night and reportedly slept with it.

Will these guys have any energy left for Tuesday’s parade?
