LAS VEGAS (AP) - A convicted felon who was on parole in a 2013 battery case has been arrested in Las Vegas on manslaughter and prohibited weapon charges in the shooting death of a 2-year-old boy who police say was shot by another child.

Records showed that Michael Logan was being held Friday at the Clark County jail pending a Monday court appearance at which he is expected to have a lawyer appointed to represent him.

He also faces child abuse and parole violation charges.

Police say Logan’s arrest stemmed from the investigation of the fatal shooting before noon Wednesday at a northeast Las Vegas apartment.

Authorities say the boy was with four other children, all believed to be younger than 12, in a bedroom when the gun fired. Police say a toy gun also was found in the room.
