STERLING, Va. (AP) - Residents in a Virginia community have found Ku Klux Klan propaganda scattered in their area for the third time this year.
News outlets report Loudoun County Sheriff’s deputies found 23 of the flyers in the county Friday. The sheriff’s office says homes that received flyers, which were in plastic bags filled with birdseed, did not appear to have been targeted. A flyer also was left at a business.
Sheriff Mike Chapman says that though the notes inside the bags were offensive, they contained no direct threats.
County residents found similar propaganda in bags filled with candy earlier this year around Martin Luther King Jr. Day and again in February. The sheriff’s office is processing the bags as evidence and seeking information related to it.
