DOVER, Del. (AP) - A Delaware prison inmate has pleaded guilty to a charge that he falsely accused a prison officer of sexual assault.
The Delaware Department of Correction said in a news release Thursday that last December, Oscar Williams filed a Prison Rape Elimination Act claim. Specifically, Williams accused an officer of sexually assaulting him in a bathroom located within his housing unit.
After an internal investigation, it was determined no such assault occurred.
Williams was charged with one count of falsely reporting an incident. On Monday, he pleaded guilty in Superior Court in Sussex County and was sentenced to a year in prison and ordered not to have contact with the officer.
