Pennsylvania’s sexual offender assessment board found that comedian Bill Cosby should be declared a “sexually violent predator,” The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Tuesday.
District Attorney Kevin Steele, who was the prosecutor in Cosby’s criminal court case, requested a hearing on Tuesday for a judge to rule on the recommendations.
Those convicted of a sexually violent crime must be assessed by the board before sentencing. Sexually violent predators are classified as someone convicted of a sex crime who has “a mental abnormality or personality disorder that makes the person likely to engage in predatory sexually violent offenses.”
If a judge agrees with the board’s findings, Cosby will be required to register as a sex offender and undergo lifetime counseling.
Cosby was found guilty of three counts of aggravated indecent assault, and his sentencing is scheduled to start on Sept. 24.
