PLAINFIELD, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a woman critically injured in a New Jersey shooting that killed a man who had survived an earlier shooting has now died of her injuries.

The Union County prosecutor’s office on Monday identified the woman as 25-year-old Shavonne Young of Scotch Plains.

Prosecutors said Plainfield officers responding to a ShotSpotter gunshot notification early on June 24 found her and the male victim with gunshot wounds. Thirty-four-year-old Michael Welsh of Plainfield was pronounced dead about an hour later at a hospital.

NJ.com reported that the shooting came the day after the nine-year anniversary of a June 2009 shooting of Welsh and two other men that sent him to a hospital in critical condition with six gunshot wounds.

Prosecutors say last month’s shooting remains under investigation.
