Earlier in the inning, Blinger Perez hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Jonny Homza to tie the game 4-4.
The AZL Padres 2 cut the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the eighth when Tucupita Marcano hit a two-run single.
Danny Sexton (1-0) got the win with two innings of scoreless, two-hit relief while Jeffry Nino (1-1) took the loss in the Arizona League game.
For the AZL Reds, Debby Santana doubled and singled three times.
