PULASKI, Va. (AP) — Charles Vazquez had two hits and two RBI, and Luis Gil tossed five scoreless innings as the Pulaski Yankees topped the Bristol Pirates 11-2 on Tuesday.
Gil (1-0) picked up the win after he struck out five and walked four while allowing one hit.
Pulaski started the scoring in the second inning when Vazquez hit an RBI single to score Ezequiel Duran.
Pulaski later scored in four additional innings, including a five-run third, when Max Burt and Oswald Peraza hit RBI singles to help finish off the blowout.
Will Kobos (0-1) went two innings, allowing five runs and four hits in the Appalachian League game. He also struck out three and walked two. Wellington Diaz gave up two runs in four innings and recorded his first save of the season.
