PHOENIX (AP) - A transportation engineer who is a senior executive for a Phoenix-based company whose business includes planning, development and environmental services is the newest member of the state board that oversees Arizona’s transportation planning.

Gov. Doug Ducey’s office on Tuesday announced his appointment of transportation engineer Sam Elters to a six-year term on the seven-member State Transportation Board.

Elters is senior vice president and national director for transportation for Matrix Design Group. He replaces Joseph LaRue on the board.
