WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP) - A coroner’s inquest is scheduled in western Pennsylvania in the shooting death of a man state police said was armed with a knife and threatening neighbors but relatives said was merely suicidal.
The Washington County coroner scheduled the inquest Monday in the October death of 34-year-old Anthony Gallo. Coroner Tim Warco said he had been waiting for completion of a state police investigation and for pathology and toxicology reports.
Capt. Joseph Ruggery said Gallo threatened to kill troopers and refused to drop a knife at the Canton Township trailer park where he’d been staying with his grandmother.
Gallo’s family said he had been acting strangely since injuring his head in a May car accident. They said they called 911 hoping that troopers would help get him a mental health commitment..
