The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders will soon be honored in a museum in the heart of Redskins country.

The Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington is adding old uniforms and memorabilia from “America’s Sweethearts” to its collections, previewing the items to the media in an event on Feb. 26.

The cheerleaders have been renowned since the 1960s, for as long as the Cowboys have played in the NFL. They are known by their distinctive blue and white uniforms with white cowgirl-style boots.
