The Maryland Terrapins have secured a first-round bye and are locked into the No. 8 seed of the Big Ten Conference tournament. They’ll play their first game Thursday, March 1 at noon Eastern against the No. 9 seed.
As Big Ten Network researchers first pointed out, Maryland cannot move either up or down in the conference tournament seeding during the final week of the regular season.
The Terrapins’ 71-64 victory Monday over Northwestern was their eighth Big Ten game of the year and therefore cannot fall below Northwestern or Wisconsin, both 6-10 in league play at the moment.
