Former Trump attorney Michael Cohen reached a plea deal with federal prosecutors Tuesday.
Mr. Cohen will appear before a federal judge in New York around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The Associated Press reported Mr. Cohen will plead guilty to charges including campaign finance and bank fraud, tax evasion.
The plea deal could involve giving information to the Mueller investigation about the president.
In July, Mr. Cohen released secretly recorded tapes of conversations he had with then-candidate Mr. Trump where they discuss buying the rights to Playboy model Karen McDougal’s story, which was sold to but never published by the National Enquirer.
In the fallout from the tape’s release, CNN reported Mr. Cohen planned on testifying to special counsel Robert Mueller that Mr. Trump knew about the infamous Trump Tower meeting between Russians and few of his campaign officials, including his son Donald Trump Jr.
Mr. Trump has denied all accusations of wrongdoing related to possible collusion and obstruction of justice. He slammed his former attorney in several tweets and accused Mr. Cohen of using this to “get himself out of an unrelated jam.”
…..I did NOT know of the meeting with my son, Don jr. Sounds to me like someone is trying to make up stories in order to get himself out of an unrelated jam (Taxi cabs maybe?). He even retained Bill and Crooked Hillary’s lawyer. Gee, I wonder if they helped him make the choice!
