The Board of Regents of the University System of Maryland will hold a special meeting Friday that may determine the future of certain employees, going even higher than football coach DJ Durkin.

Brett McMurphy first reported that the meeting will be closed because the board will discuss a potential lawsuit against the University of Maryland, College Park as well as “personnel matters” related to the future of Durkin, athletic director Damon Evans and President Wallace D. Loh.

The meeting is obviously concerned with the death of Jordan McNair and the university’s handling of the situation. McNair’s parents said on “Good Morning America” Thursday that Durkin should be fired and never allowed to coach “kids” again, and the family’s attorney has already said a lawsuit is likely.

Legal experts have told The Washington Times the university more likely would settle than fight a suit in court, especially now that Loh has publicly said they take full “legal and moral responsibility” for the “mistakes” leading to McNair’s death.

The board is expected to release a statement following their meeting Friday evening, ESPN reported.
