Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake denounced President Trump on Tuesday for calling former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman a “dog.”

Mr. Flake said the insult was “unbecoming of a president” and called on other Republicans to disapprove of the Twitter attack.

On Monday, Mr. Trump took to Twitter to battle his former employee.

He continued his criticism of Ms. Manigault Newman on Tuesday morning, calling her a “crazed, crying lowlife” who didn’t work out in her White House job.

“Good work by General Kelly for quickly firing that dog!” Mr. Trump tweeted.

The insult came the morning that Ms. Manigault Newman’s new book “Unhinged” was released. In the pages, the former White House aide details several sensational accusations of the president, including a claim that he used the N-word on multiple occasions.

Over the past few days, she’s leaked two separate audio recordings of the president and Chief of Staff John Kelly during her departure from the White House. She also leaked one of Trump campaign staffers allegedly discussing the existence of a tape in which the president uses a racial slur.
