Mr. Flake said the insult was “unbecoming of a president” and called on other Republicans to disapprove of the Twitter attack.
This kind of language is unbecoming of a President of the United States. There is no excuse for it, and Republicans should not be okay with it. https://t.co/0TLmRT7y22— Jeff Flake (@JeffFlake) August 14, 2018
On Monday, Mr. Trump took to Twitter to battle his former employee.
While I know it’s “not presidential” to take on a lowlife like Omarosa, and while I would rather not be doing so, this is a modern day form of communication and I know the Fake News Media will be working overtime to make even Wacky Omarosa look legitimate as possible. Sorry!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 13, 2018
“Good work by General Kelly for quickly firing that dog!” Mr. Trump tweeted.
The insult came the morning that Ms. Manigault Newman’s new book “Unhinged” was released. In the pages, the former White House aide details several sensational accusations of the president, including a claim that he used the N-word on multiple occasions.
Over the past few days, she’s leaked two separate audio recordings of the president and Chief of Staff John Kelly during her departure from the White House. She also leaked one of Trump campaign staffers allegedly discussing the existence of a tape in which the president uses a racial slur.
