DETROIT (AP) - A 16-year-old Detroit youth has pleaded no contest to charges in connection with a shooting during a holiday celebration last December.

The teen entered the plea Wednesday to two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and a felony firearm charge. The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office says he was “adult designated,” which means he can receive a juvenile sentence, an adult sentence or a blending of both. Sentencing is scheduled for May 25.

He was arrested after four teens - ages 19, 17, 16 and 14 - were wounded Dec. 2 during midtown Detroit’s annual Noel Night celebration. Police Chief James Craig has said the outdoor shooting was related to an argument about high school football.
