ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) - Police in Roswell say a woman has been arrested in connection with the death of her cousin and the stabbing and wounding of a man.

They say 41-year-old Marcella Reese was taken into custody Monday.

She’s accused of second-degree murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and is being held without bond at the Chaves County Detention Center.

It was unclear Monday if she has a lawyer yet.

Reese allegedly stabbed the two victims March 26 at a west Roswell apartment and police believe she was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Authorities identified the female victim as 46-year-old Charlotte Byrd, who was Reese’s cousin. She was declared dead at the scene.

Police say the 55-year-old male victim remains hospitalized in stable condition. His name hasn’t been released.
