DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) - The director of the regional jail in Devils Lake says he’s working to correct problems at the lockup.
WDAY-TV reports that the state Department of Corrections found the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center was not complying with 40 different jail standards.
That’s in addition to several other problems in recent years, including guard misconduct, staffing issues and inmate escapes.
Director Rob Johnson says he’s been given a month to fix the problems.
The jail’s former top administrator resigned in July after it took more than 30 hours to notice an inmate had escaped.
