NEW YORK (AP) - A former boxer has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for stabbing and bludgeoning to death his former girlfriend on a street in Queens.
Prosecutors say 31-year-old Trevis Hall was sentenced Thursday after being convicted of murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the December, 2014 death of Margarita Rivera.
Trevis was a former featherweight boxer and Golden Gloves winner. Prosecutors say he used a knife and a pipe that he had just purchased at a Home Depot to attack the 31-year-old victim.
