COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - State election officials say South Carolina was not one of 21 states whose election systems were breached by Russian hackers before the 2016 elections.
State Election Commission spokesman Chris Whitmire said the Department of Homeland Security called officials in South Carolina on Friday to tell them the state was not hacked.
The agency is calling all 50 states to let them know whether their systems were compromised.
Officials say 21 states were targeted by Russian hackers before the November elections.
