Redmond selling historic railway depot

BEND, Ore. (AP) - The Redmond City Council has directed the city manager to negotiate the sale of a historic railway depot.

The Bulletin reports (https://bit.ly/2jxkwej ) a developer is interested in the buying the vacant Redmond Depot and leasing office space inside.

The depot was built in 1911, and served rail passengers until 1971. It had multiple tenants after that, including a restaurant and brewpub.

The city bought the depot for $1 in 2004. It otherwise might have been demolished during the reroute of U.S. Highway 97. It was instead moved and rebuilt at another location.

The 2,278-square-foot building was placed on the city’s inventory of historic landmarks in 2015. It’s been vacant for five years.
