Even when the San Francisco Giants win, they lose.
Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval hit a walk-off home run Sunday against the San Diego Padres — costing his team the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 draft. Instead, the Detroit Tigers secured the spot when they lost to the Minnesota Twins.
Sandoval, who re-signed in San Francisco this season after being released by the Boston Red Sox, hit just .220 this season. The 31-year-old was once one of the top third basemen in baseball.
The Giants finished 64-98 this year.
