CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - A spokesman for a New Jersey congressman says their office was the one allegedly targeted and threatened by a veteran who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Federal prosecutors say Joseph Brodie threatened to assault and kill a congressman and his staff in threats that were made via telephone and email Sept. 15 and 19. They didn’t identify the lawmaker, but a spokesman for Republican Rep. Frank LoBiondo’s office told the Courier-Post (https://on.cpsj.com/2kbAfzY) it was his office that was targeted.
Prosecutors say Brodie was initially arrested on weapons charges Sept. 20 after state police went to his home to do a welfare check. They say the 38-year-old Millville man had contacted the lawmaker to complain about a Department of Veterans Affairs clinic.
