LITTLETON, N.H. (AP) - Representatives for a proposed $1.1 billion power transmission project in New England are meeting with local leaders in the area to discuss their plans.
The Caledonian-Record reports that representatives for the Granite State Power Link held a listening session Friday in Littleton, New Hampshire, and have another planned for Dec. 5 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont.
Their proposal is one of several competing ideas to bring renewable energy from Canada to Massachusetts. The project will be funded by ratepayers in Massachusetts and officials there will select the winning proposal on Jan. 25.
The project is being co-developed by National Grid and Citizens Energy, a nonprofit that promises to put some of its revenue back into local communities to assist low-income families.
