SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Authorities say a man has been shot and killed near a fast-food restaurant on the north side of Springfield.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that investigators believe the victim was shot early Tuesday in an area where shell casings were found and drove a short distance to a McDonald’s.

Springfield Police Sgt. Ryan Russell says officers were initially called to the lot for a reported DWI. When they got there, they found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. He died a short time later. His name wasn’t immediately released.

Russell says witnesses saw a car flee the scene. Police are looking for a suspect.
