APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a man suspected in a Memorial Day shooting outside a Southern California department store has been shot and wounded by deputies serving an arrest warrant.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department says the suspect, Dearld Wicker, was armed with a handgun when deputies confronted him Tuesday at a home in Apple Valley.

The Daily Press newspaper reports (https://bit.ly/2raUX4x ) the 41-year-old was hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds. Officials did not provide additional details of the deputy-involved shooting.



Sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindy Bachman says Wicker is suspected of shooting a man during an argument Monday in the parking lot of a Super Target store. Detectives tracked him to the home in Apple Valley.
