OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) - A judge has convicted the last of three people accused of kidnapping an Ottumwa woman in a drug dispute.
Court records say 23-year-old Joel Herrarte Jr. was found guilty Monday in Wapello County District Court of kidnapping and two related charges after a nonjury trial. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 7.
Authorities say Herrarte and two other people kidnapped the woman in late February last year and held her captive for several days. Accomplices Constance Griffiths and Jacob Rauscher have given 10 years in prison.
