NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard says a missing hunter has been found after a search that also involved local sheriff’s offices and state wildlife employees.

Authorities said local search parties located the man around 7 p.m. Monday in the area of the Atchafalaya River Basin.

St. Mary’s Parish sheriff’s employees took the man to get medical attention. The Coast Guard said he was in stable condition.

KATC-TV reported that the man had gone into the Atakapas Wildlife Management Area on Sunday to hunt hogs with a hunting party. The station reports that he walked into the woods and got lost. Those in his hunting party radioed him, but he did not respond and authorities began searching for him.
