GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) - A New York man has been arrested after authorities say he was found with more than $145,000 worth of untaxed cigarettes during a traffic stop in Sussex County.
Georgetown police say in a statement that 51-year-old Marvin Davis of Bronx, New York, faces multiple charges including untaxed tobacco possession, attempting to evade or defeat tax and traffic violations.
Police say officers pulled over Johnson for a traffic violation Saturday and discovered that his license was suspended. Police say officers searched Johnson’s car and found 503 cartons of cigarettes with no tax stamps.
Authorities say the New York street value of the cigarettes confiscated is about $145,580.
