SOUTH GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - A New York high school’s annual dance marathon that was dedicated to a fallen state trooper has raised the most money in the event’s 40-year history.

Organizers at South Glens Falls High School in Saratoga County say the 800-plus students who participated raised nearly more than $823,000, beating last year’s record of over $760,000. The school’s 40th dance marathon started Friday night and lasted into Saturday night.

This year’s event was dedicated to Timothy Pratt, a New York state trooper who died in an on-duty accident in a neighboring town last fall. Pratt was a South Glens Falls graduate who helped provide security at the dance marathon for many years.
