LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say a 5-year-old girl has been returned safe to her mother after a man stole a car with the child inside from a truck stop northeast of Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2n6D02c) the girl was traveling with her father and two other people when they visited the truck stop Sunday.
Las Vegas police Lt. David Gordon says the group got out of the car and left the girl and the keys inside.
A man stole the Buick Lacrosse and drove off.
Authorities later received a call from the girl’s mother that the child and car had been returned to her home in Caliente.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department responded to the house and found the girl safe.
The vehicle theft suspect, who has not yet been identified, was detained.
