BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) - A Bellingham man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually assaulting boys for three decades.

The Bellingham Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2nSAQqy ) that 44-year-old Lee John Weeda asked for forgiveness on Thursday before his sentence was handed down. He pleaded guilty last month to second-degree child molestation, assault and dealing in depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Police found at least eight men who say Weeda raped, molested or touched them when they were children. During the course of their investigation, police say Weeda’s offenses date back to the 1990s.

County prosecutors leveled charges in three cases for which the statute of limitations had not expired.
