FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - A judge has denied bail for two teenage brothers from Frederick who prosecutors say tried to kill a rival gang member with a handgun and a machete last month.
The Frederick News-Post (https://bit.ly/2lCFxjx) reports a 16-year-old and his 14-year-old brother are facing numerous charges as adults, including conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, after their home was searched Wednesday.
Assistant State’s Attorney Kyle Kane says the older brother pulled a handgun on a member of a rival gang at a school bus stop on Feb. 10 while the younger brother held a machete to his neck. Kane says the brothers then beat the victim.
Judge Scott Rolle called the accusations “terrifying,” and rejected a public defender’s motion to have the brothers transferred to a juvenile detention center.
