LEXINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Police in Lexington say a man faces multiple charges after investigators say he shot his girlfriend who was eight months pregnant and led police on a chase which ended in a wreck.

The Dispatch of Lexington reports (https://bit.ly/2nwuuuV) 27-year-old Mondrail Woodberry faces charges including felony attempted murder and felony attempted murder of an unborn child.

Maj. Robby Rummage said officers responding to a report of a shooting Tuesday forced their way into an apartment, where they found 27-year-old Raven Cauthen with a gunshot wound to the stomach. Rummage said a 2-year-old child inside the apartment was unharmed.



Cauthen underwent surgery at a Winston-Salem hospital. Rummage said both baby and mother are in stable condition.

Woodberry is jailed on a $705,000 bond. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
