TUSCON, Ariz. (AP) - Police say a Tucson couple escaped from a house fire unharmed after a man noticed the fire while trying to turn on his TV.

Investigators say the Tuesday fire started in the laundry area of the home which they discovered had no working smoke detectors.

The man says he had woken up from a nap to watch the news when his TV suddenly went black. He went outside the home to find the problem when he saw the fire.

The man told his girlfriend and both escaped from the house safely.

Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire and damage costs.
