UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) - One of two western Pennsylvania men who pleaded guilty in a shooting death during a botched robbery more than four years ago is seeking to withdraw his plea and go to trial.
Twenty-three-year-old Antoine Hairston and 23-year-old Joshua Stepoli pleaded guilty in Westmoreland County earlier this month to third-degree murder and conspiracy in the December 2012 killing of 36-year-old Chris Fincik in Monessen. Their plea agreements called for 10- to 20-year terms.
The (Uniontown) Herald-Standard (https://bit.ly/2nAsSC4 ) reports that defense attorney James Robinson Jr. said he received a letter from Hairston less than a week later seeking to withdraw the plea. He said it “was unknowingly, unintelligently and involuntarily entered.”
The two weren’t charged until 22-year-old Earl Pinkney pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in 2015 and identified them as participants.
