PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A task force is making recommendations to improve elections in Rhode Island after some voters experienced long lines and other problems at polling places last year.
Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea, a Democrat, held the final meeting of the statewide task force Tuesday.
The recommendations included legislative initiatives such as allowing in-person early voting in the state, as well as automatic voter registration and postelection audits. The group also recommends new practices to improve field operations during elections.
