Actor Tom Hanks sent a new espresso machine to the White House press corps Thursday morning, encouraging reporters to keep fighting for truth.
The new machine was spotted in the press corps break room, along with an illustration of American troops and a message from the actor himself.
To the White House Press Corps
Keep up the good fight for truth, justice and the American way. Especially for the truth part.
Tom Hanks
It’s the third espresso machine the “Sully” star has given White House reporters in more than a decade.
The first was in 2004 after Mr. Hanks visited the break room and was appalled that reporters were drinking coffee brewed by a vending machine. Then in 2010, Mr. Hanks helped what he called the “poor slobs of the Fourth estate” by giving them a “super deluxe” version of the same machine, The Los Angeles Times reported at the time.
Thursday’s gesture appears to be the first time the longtime Democrat has attached a note with a deeper meaning, at a time when President Trump is at war with what he calls the “fake news” media.
