STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A Steamboat Springs hospital is looking to merge with the UCHealth hospital system.

The Steamboat Pilot & Today reports (https://bit.ly/2mPN5k7 ) that Yampa Valley Medical Center announced Wednesday that it is pursuing a merger with the nationally recognized Front Range-based system, which includes hospitals in Colorado Springs, Poudre, Broomfield and Aurora.

According to hospital officials, if an agreement is reached, Yampa Valley Medical Center employees would become UCHealth employees and the two organizations would consolidate their finances.

Hospital CEO Frank May stressed that the proposed partnership was not a sale of the nonprofit hospital.
