GASTONIA, N.C. (AP) - Police in Gastonia say a man who went on a crime rampage targeting the elderly has been taken into custody at a local hotel room and charged in the death of a 90-year-old man.
Gaston County Police Capt. Curtis Rosselle told the Gaston Gazette (https://bit.ly/2m6EflX) that officers found 42-year-old Brian Thad Carver fully clothed in a shower at a local motel when they arrested him on Wednesday.
Rosselle said Carver was charged on Thursday with first-degree murder in the death of Ray Ronald Jackson, whose body was found under a bridge last week.
Authorities also accuse Carver of assaulting an elderly man, and of robbing and assaulting an elderly couple.
Carver is jailed on a $1 million bond on multiple charges. He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
