Pro-choice advocates and allied liberal groups took to Twitter Friday with the hashtag #CelebrateAbortionProviders in honor of individuals who provide surgical abortion procedures.
At the time of this writing, Twitter recorded more than 1,600 tweets that include the hashtag.
“Dear abortion care providers: We see you, we love you, we thank you. #CelebrateAbortionProviders,” the Twitter account for the Center for Reproductive Rights posted at 10:10 a.m. Eastern time Friday.
“Today we thank the doctors, clinicians & staff who provide safe, legal abortion care! #CelebrateAbortionProviders #carenomatterwhat,” tweeted Planned Parenthood Foundation of America President Cecile Richards Friday afternoon.
“To all those heroes who provide compassionate abortion care against all the odds, we say: Thank you! #CelebrateAbortionProviders,” wrote the Twitter account for the American Civil Liberties Union, which has successfully challenged abortion-clinic regulations in various federal and state courts. An attached photo shows a smiling woman in a lab coat as a caption reads “I <heart> abortion providers.”
