PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A defense attorney says a Philadelphia landlord has wrongly been charged with burglarizing his own property in what the attorney says was really a dispute with squatters.
Attorney Guy Sciolla (see-OH’-lah) tells WPVI-TV (https://6abc.cm/2sTIvYf ) that squatters took over the top unit in a multi-family home where his client, Kaiem Frink, was also living.
Frink is now court-ordered to stay out of the home after he and a friend allegedly confronted the alleged squatters with baseball bats. The alleged squatters have not been named or charged by police.
Frink and his friend face a preliminary hearing next month on burglary, terroristic threats and other charges.
Frink says he changed the locks on the property last week, only to have the squatters occupy one of the units. They called police when Frink and his friend allegedly threatened them.
