NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The number of people killed or wounded by gunfire in New Orleans reached 300 at the end of May.

The New Orleans Advocate reports ( https://bit.ly/2rKtRTC ) that Jeff Asher, a New Orleans-based crime analyst, says the city reached the grim milestone earlier in 2017 than it has in recent years.

This year, the city reached the 300 level on Wednesday, a day when two people were killed and a third wounded in two different shooting incidents.
