CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A Wyoming judge has sentenced a 45-year-old Casper man to up to 70 years in prison for sexually abusing two teenage girls.
District Court Judge Catherine Wilking sentenced Lenard Smiley on Friday.
Smiley had pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor and one count of third-degree sexual abuse of a minor.
Before the Wyoming case, Smiley was a registered sex offender for a 2001 conviction of second-degree abuse of a minor in Alaska.
The previous week, the same judge sentenced Smiley’s wife, Sonya, to up to 20 years for charges connected to the same case.
Casper police arrested the couple in December after an investigation showed they were grooming two teenage girls to become sex slaves.
