Walker Police get 10 bulletproof vests

WALKER, La. (AP) - The Walker Police Department has received a donation of 10 bulletproof vests.

The vests were donated Monday by the Capital Area Law Enforcement Foundation, a charitable organization created last year after the shooting deaths of Baton Rouge Police Officers Matthew Gerald, Montrell Jackson and East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputy Brad Garafola during a police ambush. Three other law enforcement officers were wounded in the incident.

WBRZ-TV reports Walker Police spokesman Capt. John Sharp says the donation is timely as many of the vests the departments currently has need to be replaced.

Police Chief David Addison says the department is grateful for the foundation’s generosity.
