Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer will be the starter on the mound for the National League for Tuesday’s All-Star Game in Miami, manager Joe Maddon announced.
Scherzer will become only the fifth pitcher in MLB history to have started the game for both leagues. Scherzer has a league-best 2.10 ERA and leads pitcher in Wins Above Replacement with 4.7.
