The world may associate Mr. Hamill with “Luke Skywalker,” but fans of DC Comics’ animated fare have known him since the 1990s as the voice of “Joker.” This weekend, he decided to lend his voice to recordings of the 45th commander in chief’s Twitter feed.
“Happy New Year to all, including to my many enemies and those who have fought me and lost so badly they just don’t know what to do!” the actor said to 1.57 million followers, reading a New Year’s Eve quote by Mr. Trump verbatim.
The actor’s mockery of Mr. Trump started after Matt Oswalt, the brother of comedian Patton, suggested an app that would read all of the future president’s tweets as if they came from a super-villain.
Mr. Hamill was an ardent supporter of Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential campaign.
“Don’t panic — Vote!” he tweeted Oct. 28, 2016, after FBI Director James B. Comey reopened the agency’s investigation into the former secretary of state’s secret email server. The tweet was deleted shortly afterward.
