GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) - Democratic state Sen. Mary Sheehy Moe of Great Falls has resigned her seat so she can help her daughter care for her infant triplets, who were born prematurely.
Moe announced late last year that she planned to resign. The Great Falls Tribune reports (https://gftrib.com/2j8KwMN ) she submitted her letter of resignation to the Secretary of State’s office just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, meaning it would take effect just before 5 p.m. Friday.
Carl Donovan, chairman of the Cascade County Democratic Central Committee, says 10 people have expressed interest in finishing Moe’s term. The committee will meet and forward the names of three nominees to Cascade County Commissioners, who will choose Moe’s successor.
Moe was elected to her first term in 2014 and was re-elected in 2016. Her term expires in January 2019.
