ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A man accused of fatally shooting a man who was riding a motorcycle recently stolen from him has pleaded guilty to a murder charge.
The Albuquerque Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2j51t5M) that 34-year-old Michael Kaumans pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and lesser charges in an agreement that resolved multiple cases against him.
At sentencing, he faces between two and 20 years in prison.
Police say Vincent McAneney died at a hospital of a gunshot wound suffered in the July 2015 shooting.
It’s not clear if McAneney stole the motorcycle or acquired it after it had been stolen.
Kaumans’ attorney Tom Clark says his client acknowledged taking the law into his own hands.
Kaumans also pleaded guilty to robbery, attempted burglary and attempted armed robbery in separate incidents in June and July 2015.
