WOLFEBORO, N.H. (AP) - Town officials in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, say they’re satisfied with just one state representative after the other one took a job in Republican Gov. Chris Sununu’s administration. But the secretary of state’s office says it may not be up to them.
The Concord Monitor reports (https://bit.ly/2jqpV27) the board of selectmen voted Dec. 21 not to hold a special election to replace Harold Parker, a Republican, saying it would cost too much and that they missed the deadline to hold it during the March town meeting. Wolfeboro’s currently represented by a Republican representative and senator.
Deputy Secretary of State Dave Scanlan says it’s up to the governor and Executive Council to call for a special election. An attorney representing the Wolfeboro Democratic committee sent a letter to them asking for one.
